OK, so let us just be honest with each other, I have an problem. I love these cheesy Hallmark movies, the mystery ones are so good! I love them too much. I have been watching them like way too much. I kept going and I watched this one because OMG I saw who it starred!

So first thing, this stars LACEY CHABERT!!! Yes, Gretchen from MEAN GIRLS. Sorry that Lacey will always be known as either Claudia or Gretchen to me. (Not actually sorry, that is more than some of us have) She plays a crossword editor for a newspaper in this mystery film. Her counterpart is Brennan Elliott, who does a great job of playing off of Lacey in this. In the last cheesy Hallmark series (Matchmaker Mysteries), I didn’t end up liking the chemistry between the leads that much. In this first film, I feel like they have better overall chemistry so far. They seemed to play off each other well and seemed to genuinely like each other at least. I wasn’t sure in the last one if they even liked each other off screen. I also will say that I loved the aunt in this film, as she seemed to be that side character that was needed in this. I loved that technically both counterparts in this one had that for themselves and these two seemed to be so much more than what was in the last series. Sorry, yes I realize I am comparing those two a lot, but I did just finish that one so come on ya’ll cut me some slack.

The plot here is what a cheesy Hallmark mystery is, but it allows for a twist near the end that I did not see coming. This helped me to feel pretty good about the overall elements of the story. I was pleased that this was a bit different than the other three Mystery films that I had seen recently. I found this to be a lot more enjoyable and the stakes felt just a tiny bit more high than in the other films. I felt like there was danger and intrigue. I recommend this mystery for sure.

I am obsessed with Hallmark murder mysteries! Yes, I watched the next one of the “Crossword Mysteries” series already. Oh, let me tell ya’ll the truth, I have watched 4 out of the 5 of this particular series and intend to fully finish it out. WHY AM I EVEN LIKE THIS? Oh, who am I even hurting? LOVE THEM.
