If you didn’t notice, I may have already reviewed the first movie of the series HERE. I literally could not stop watching this series of mysteries. I watched the next film shortly after watching the first because OMG Danica did that! Can I say enough good things for a Hallmark cheesy goodness film? NOPE I CANNOT LITERALLY, I CAN’T EVEN RIGHT NOW!

This film in the “MatchMaker Mysteries” series was pure perfection for all the things a Cass loves and enjoys: A mystery, a writing convention, love in the air, and so much more. We, the audience, are taxed with trying to discover who killed a popular romance writer before it is revealed on our screens. This one kept me guessing until the end, but I did figure it out.

Danica McKellar (from “The Wonder Years” fame) gives us another stellar performance as Angie Dove, a television matchmaker. Victor Webster gives us another great soap opera type performance. I will say that the two don’t have stellar chemistry in this one, but that isn’t a dealbreaker for me. I don’t need the detective and leading lady to always be all over each other. They are cute, but it just isn’t as good here. I didn’t take anything off rating wise for this though because I probably was just having a bad hair day or something. Also why take off a point when their acting still was so deliciously good for a mystery!

The plot is a bit silly and convoluted, but what cheesy Hallmark mystery film isn’t. It gets extra gold stars from me for this. The fact that it is at a writing convention type event makes me love this. I loved that there was a panel with two romance authors (fake of course) and Angie was the moderator. I loved how we got to the murder as well. So many elements of this were fun to watch. I know a film is right up my personal alley when I look down and realize that of an hour and twenty-four minute film, I am at ten minutes left without batting an eyelash. I lost complete track of time and was just engrossed into the mystery and wondering what in the world happened. When we arrive at the conclusion of this one, I said to my television, “ANGIE, GIRL YOU ABOUT TO DIE” and I knew because there is another film (see below) that she wasn’t, but goodness was my emotions intense when I understood who did the deed. That is fun to have in a cheese fest. I needed to have a moment where I was invested and didn’t want the main character to have something bad happen to them. The fact that I was emotionally that invested speaks volumes to how much I enjoyed “Matchmaker Mysteries: A Fatal Romance”. BIG SNAPS from the Cass, BIG BIG SNAPS.

These Hallmark mysteries are giving me a warm glow as I keep watching them. I am finding I truly enjoy them and they provide me something truly enjoyable to watch. I can tell that I will keep the like $7 Hallmark Movies Now subscription after this month because goodness am I using it. If all the other mystery films from them are like this, this is money well spent.

There is still one more film within the Matchmaker Mysteries series. I have watched that film as well and plan to review it next Friday! Man, I wonder if it will be just as good or not? TUNE IN NEXT WEEK TO FIND OUT.
